We aim to facilitate the development and enjoyment of all sport and sports infrastructure in Twizel.

Sport Twizel is a new 'umbrella' organisation established in June 2016 to provide support in the areas of strategic, governance, and facilities development for all sports clubs in Twizel. Our formal identity is the Twizel Sports Development Board.

As well as aiming to help strengthen individual Twizel sports clubs, we provide coordination of the needs of the different sports. We attempt to identify as many commonalities as possible between sports to present a strong and unified pitch to the Twizel Community Board, Mackenzie District Council, and funding bodies as we seek to improve the facilities in town and in the district at large for the benefit of all sports supporters and participants.

TWIZEL SNOW CLUB

Twizel Snow Club (TSC) functions to build on skills and knowledge over the season through goal setting.
TSC aims to: Encourage improvement, motivation, skill development, and confidence, build relationships with instructors and mountain staff during the season, foster personal and social development and independence, enhance environmental knowledge/awareness and develop a healthy respect for New Zealand's mountain environments, learn safety on ski areas and in the mountains, increase physical fitness, focus on high performance, including racing, off-piste, freestyle, and other snow sport skills, provide a potential pathway to work in this industry as a career option, with unique travel opportunities, and most importantly, provide a context for FUN and ENJOYMENT!
The Twizel Snow Club starts in the first week of the winter term.

Junior Snow Club is for those children in Year 2 to Year 6 who can ski independently down the magic carpet. We encourage parents with children who have not skied before or only once, to take them up to Ohau Snow Fields in the school holidays and enrol them in a lesson, so that they can be part of Snow Club. Children in Year 2 can join Snow Club if they have skied before and are accompanied by a parent/caregiver every time. We plan to go most weeks in the winter term (weather dependant), after morning break, and return to Twizel Area School by approximately 5.00pm.
Costs:
Membership Fee – $25.00 for the season.
Lift pass, lesson, and ski hire per day – $55.00 (slightly less if children own their own gear and/or season pass).
Prices subject to change.
